19th Meeting of the EUSDR SG 11 Security

June 7, 2021in 2020 3 Likes

The 19th meeting of PA 11 took place on 3rd of June /online event/. It was technically hosted by the Danube Strategy Point. The following countries participated: Germany and Bulgaria as PACs, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Moldova, Republic of Slovakia, Serbia, Romania and Ukraine. The meeting was also attended by the Technical Coordinator of EUSDR PA11 for the cooperation with PA 1a as well as PA 11 partners and stakeholders, namely: Representative of DG REGIO, EU Commission, the Slovak Presidency of the EUSDR, SELEC General Director, DSP pillar officer, member of the team of PAC from PA 1a Waterway mobility, PAC from PA 1b Rail, Road and Air mobility.

The meeting was chaired by PAC from Bavaria.

A variety of topics were discussed like the state of play of the embedding process, the activities of the Danube Strategy Point, the forthcoming selection of strategic projects for each PA, the outcomes of the seminar on fight against hybrid threats held in April under the current project, etc. PAC from Bavaria made an overview of the topic of drafting roadmaps for each PAs: the idea, the position of PACs and members of PA 11, the informal discussion among PACs, the model of such a roadmap, etc. We as PACs are currently satisfied with the conclusion of the Slovak Presidency that for the time being it is very difficult to decide on uniform approach and template for all PAs. Unique character of work of each PA shall be taken into consideration.

A new impetus was given to horizontal cooperation: on one hand PA 1a presented the development of the joint work on the agreed measures until 2025. On the other hand, we have invited the PAC from Slovenia from PA 1b to present his views about possible topics for future cooperation between the two areas. SG members will be asked to comment in written on their willingness to engage in one of the two topics as well as to appoint a Coordinator to act on behalf of PA 11 Security.
