The workshop “Cross-border crime prevention – vehicle crime/narcotics crime (smuggling)”, organized by the Bavarian Border Police, was held from 5 to 7 May 2025. The invitation to this follow-up event was accepted by representatives of nine EUSDR member states, the German Federal Police and the Bavarian State Criminal Police Office. As before, also this workshop was a highly effective platform for exchange of knowledge, best practices and further networking at expert level. Besides exhange of experience on vehicle offences and narcotics smuggling, interesting presentations on investigation procedures and methods were given. There was also the opportunity to learn about hiding places for smugglers and various locking mechanisms. Highlight was the practical experience during an actual large-scale police check on a federal motorway. The participants were very positive about the workshop and especially thankful for the practical parts. Again, the Training Institute of the Bavarian Police in Ainring as the host of the workshop showed excellent support in all logistical matters.
