The Lead partner of the project is Ministry of Interior, for Sport and Integration – Bavaria and a partner is the Ministry of Interior, Bulgaria
The current project under the Danube Region Programme is a follow-up of two projects developed under the Danube Transnational Program within the first and second calls for proposals (DTP-PAC1-PA 11 and DTP-PAC2-PA11).
It aims at providing further support to PACs of EUSDR PA 11 in better performing their management activities related to the Strategy Implementation: day-to-day coordination between PACs, Steering Group members and stakeholders; preparation of Steering Group meetings, involvement in the work of EUSDR Presidency and the Danube Strategy Point, participation of the EUSDR Annual Fora, etc., coordination with the EU Commission etc. The project will also contribute to policy development by organizing specific events linked to the implementation of the EUSDR Action Plan adopted in April 2020.
A focus will also be placed on horizontal cooperation with priority areas with which PA 11 has established common initiatives. Contacts with Interact and other Macro-regional strategies could be established within the project duration if this could be beneficial for Priority Area 11. Whenever possible, involvement of non-EU member-states and young people in the implementation of the project should be encouraged. Ensuing publicity and better communication are to be considered as horizontal tasks throughout the project duration. The project proposes a set of activities aiming at enhancing the safety in the Danube region by successfully tackling serious and organised crime and enhancing the overall level of security.
The specific objectives of the project answer directly to the identified needs in the region in the area of security and contribute to the transformation of the specific challenges of the Danube region into opportunities for the benefit of the entire region. In particular, the project implementation will lead to 1) strengthening police cooperation; 2) further improvement of strategic long-term cooperation between law enforcement actors along the Danube river; 3) improved systems of border control and document inspection management; 4) enhanced rule of law systems as well as improved fight against corruption.
These results will be achieved by carrying out various initiatives and thematic events.
The overall funding under the project amounts to a total of 749 900 euro for both partners, of which 599 920 еurо (80 %) are from the European Regional Development Fund, while 149 980 euro (20 %) will be ensured as a national co-financing.
The project activities will be implemented until the end of 2028.
