The 8th DARIF Joint Operation has been executed between 30th of September and 4th of October in 2019 with the participation of nine member countries along the Danube river (Germany, Austria, Hungary, Croatia, Serbia, Romania, Bulgaria, Moldova, Ukraine), joined by Interpol, Europol and Frontex. Hungary supported the preparations by providing an updated risk assessment, assembling the Joint Operation plan and establishing the Temporary Coordination Centre at Mohács.
Each member state delegated one liaison officer to the Temporary Coordination Centre in Mohács in order to enhance reaction abilities and information In addition the work of the Centre was also supported by analysts from Frontex, Europol and Interpol.
The goals of the operation were to detect human smuggling, unlawful acts related to illegal migration, document fraud, smuggling drugs and tobacco, to implement general water police inspections on ships and in the port, to find wanted persons and to examine the transportation of dangerous goods and compliance with environmental regulations.
