FINALIZED PROJECT WITHIN PA 11
The final event of the Project ”Cooperation South East – Danube Region” (CSDR) was the 154th AG Southeast in Mikulov (CZ) from 15 to 17 September 2015. More than 70 experts from 20 countries met to combat drug trafficking along the Balkan route. The host this time was the project partner Czech Republic.
In addition to participants from customs and police authorities for the first time there were representatives from six European public prosecutors and Euro Just present. In order that the various phenomena could be evaluated from a variety of perspectives.
Moderated by the head of CSDR project, Mr Kriminaldirektor Jörg Beyser, the participants discussed high current developments on the Balkan route and the substantial rise in drug trafficking through the Internet. Special highlights of the event were two lectures on the topics “Darknet” and “Virtual currencies” of recognized specialists from the Netherlands and the USA. Furthermore, however, other countries which carry out no investigation into drug trafficking via the Internet at the moment, saw the absolute necessity for actions in this area of crime.
The importance of the AG Southeast was underscored by the participation of senior police representatives. State Police Commissioner Prof. Dr. Wilhelm Schmidbauer, who is also one of the Priority Area Coordinator (PA11) of the European Danube Region Strategy (EUSDR) as well as the Director of the Bundeskriminalamt (.BK) Austria, General Franz Lang, stressed the importance of the South East European Network of Drug Control.
