The 9th DARIF Joint Operation has been executed between 12th and 16th of September in 2022 with the participation of ten member countries along the Danube river (Germany, Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Croatia, Serbia, Romania, Bulgaria, Moldova, Ukraine), joined by Europol, Frontex and SELEC.
The member states carried out their controls – in accordance with their needs, the current situation on their respective stretches of the Danube, risk assessment and possibilities for strengthening – along the goals and tasks outlined in the operational plan. Hungary supported the preparations by providing an updated risk assessment table, assembling the Joint Operation plan and establishing the Temporary Coordination Centre at Mohács.
The goals of the operation were to detect human smuggling, unlawful acts related to illegal migration, document fraud, smuggling drugs and tobacco, to implement general water police inspections on ships and in the port, to find wanted persons and to examine the transportation of dangerous goods and compliance with environmental regulations.
